CFV is very excited to announce our Summer Strength and Conditioning program for the athletes of Graham High School!

So,  what exactly is CrossFit?  Here’s a handy definition we like to live by that sums things up nicely:

Fitness in 100 Words:

“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, litle starch and no sugar.  Keep intake to levels that will support excerise but not body fat.

Practice and train major lifts:  Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch.  Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits and holds.  Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast.

Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow.  Routine is the enemy.  Keep workouts short and intense.

Regularly learn and play new sports.”

Ok…so you now know the most basic elements of what we do.  Now, ask yourself a question…what are you going to do to get better this summer??  Your competition is working on getting faster and more powerful.  How can you outwork them?

Simple (not easy), get better at everything.  While your competition spends the summers focusing on speed and strength alone, we’re going to spend our time equally developing the 10 General Physical Skills to develop elite General Physical Preparedness (GPP).

10 General Physical Skills:

  1. Accuracy
  2. Agility
  3. Balance
  4. Coordination
  5. Flexibility
  6. Power
  7. Speed
  8. Stamina
  9. Strength
  10. Endurance

The first step to becoming great at your sport is to be come an elite athlete.  To accomplish this, you need to be equally proficient at each of the skills listed above.

Our program will begin June 7, 2010.  All classes will take place at GHS athletic facilities.  We will offer 3 classes per day, Monday-Thursday beginning at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 am.  Please do not be late!!!  If you’re late, there’s a good chance you’ll be asked to join the next class.  (there will be no classes on July 5)

The cost of the 6 week program is $150 / athlete.
